Storm (Elementals #1) by Brigid Kemmerer

Earth, Fire, Air, Water – they have more power than you dream.

Ever since her ex-boyfriend spread those lies about her, Becca Chandler is suddenly getting all the guys—all the ones she doesn't want. Then she saves Chris Merrick from a beating in the school parking lot. Chris is different. Way different: he can control water—just like his brothers can control fire, wind, and earth. They’re powerful. Dangerous. Marked for death.

And now that she knows the truth, so is Becca.

Secrets are hard to keep when your life’s at stake. When Hunter, the mysterious new kid around school, turns up with a talent for being in the wrong place at the right time, Becca thinks she can trust him. But then Hunter goes head-to-head with Chris, and Becca wonders who’s hiding the most dangerous truth of all.

The storm is coming . . .

 My Thoughts:

I just love elemental books. They are so awesome!!!! So this book alternates between Becca and Chris. I'm glad it's wrote like this so we can also see whats going on with Chris's brothers.

After Becca leaves her self defense class she discovers two guys beating on some poor guy. She doesn't know what to do but get in her car and run them down. What she didn't know was that after saving him, her life would never be the same. Conflict also arises when new kid Hunter starts attending her school.

Becca- I liked her but she was just so clueless sometimes, I mean ugh. How can you miss the signs, open your eyes. I do like how she stuck to her guns with dealing with Micheal.
Chris- I like him but I didn't really like him. He doesn't speak his mind and his FEELINGS. I started to warm up to him at the end. He Finally takes charge.
Hunter- I didn't like him from the start. It was nothing to do about the way he dresses. He just gave me the creeps.
Micheal- I don't really care for him and the way he acts, but I understand why he is like that. He does what he had to do to keep his family safe.
Gabriel- He is a player, no other way to put it. I thought he was real hot, despite his differences. He spoke his mind and he isn't afraid to do things. I think I liked him best out of all the brothers, that's just me, I like the bad ones ;)
Nick- The good twin. I don't really know what to say about him, he really didn't make an impression on me.

All in all this book was awesome. It was a great story that kept me interested. I'm now going to try and get my grubby little hands on the others.

Bitterblue (Graceling Realm 3): by Kristin Cashore

Eight years after Graceling, Bitterblue is now queen of Monsea. But the influence of her father, a violent psychopath with mind-altering abilities, lives on. Her advisors, who have run things since Leck died, believe in a forward-thinking plan: Pardon all who committed terrible acts under Leck’s reign, and forget anything bad ever happened. But when Bitterblue begins sneaking outside the castle—disguised and alone—to walk the streets of her own city, she starts realizing that the kingdom has been under the thirty-five-year spell of a madman, and the only way to move forward is to revisit the past.
Two thieves, who only steal what has already been stolen, change her life forever. They hold a key to the truth of Leck’s reign. And one of them, with an extreme skill called a Grace that he hasn’t yet identified, holds a key to her heart.

my thoughts:

Where to start..
I pre- ordered this book on amazon months and months ago and was so excited when it finally arrived on May first. However, since I had so much time I had to spend waiting, I looked into the reviews of the book. The reviews I read of it were disheartening since I thought the sun rose and fell on Kristen’s first book Graceling. I have had the book for a month and been too afraid to read it, fearing it would disappoint me. I finally decided, last night, at three in the morning, that I was GOING TO READ IT. I passed out just after sunrise on chapter 33- page 402. I starting reading it again at four pm today and I just finished it. It is 6pm. You are probably thinking: wow, it was so good, she read I all night!. No. I read it all night because I was so hoping that it would get better. It was good. I don’t think Ms. Cashore could ever really fail in writing a book. I don’t want to spoil it for Kevin, because I will be lending to her now. This is only my opinion. She may love it. *sigh* a few things I want to complain about without having too many spoilers: there was practically no Katsa in this book. oh, she was in it, but Po was in it way more than she was. Even bigger than that, somehow Katsa and Po seemed…..how to explan it….. weak in this book. After the awesomely- strong- kick@## characters I fell in love with in Graceling, these characters seemed to pale in comparison. Another thing, THERE WAS HARDLY ANY REAL ROMANCE IN THIS BOOK. that’s all I am going to say about that. (stupid. L ) This was mostly a book about conspiracies, spies, and not knowing who to trust.
My random explanation: this story centers on how, even eight years after Leck’s death, everyone is trying to make sense of what happened and what their parts were in it. There is so much pain and hurt that Leck caused and it is nearly impossible for some to get past it. All of this is hidden from the queen.  Bitterblue, who has been basically useless as queen, finally decides that she does not know enough about her own kingdom and takes late night walks through her city on a whim. Through her late night excursions, she makes new friends, learns of conspiracies and traitors in her own palace, and out of the blue, decided to take back her kingdom from the shadow of her father. That is all I will share. Even though the book didn’t have enough of certain elements, it was fun to follow bitterblue in her progression to a better queen through her desire to really “know” the people around her and take charge, with the help of all her friends (of course), of her kingdom. I was kept on my toes guessing at who was behind the conspiracy and it was really a good book. I mean, I liked it a lot. The stort made sense and flowed from thought to thought and there was an explanation for almost everything. Also, i liked a certain part in the end that had to do with a certain tunnel. It was…..nice to see a certain charcter again. Anyway, no names! I liked it. so..

my turn

get this. i was sitting in the cafe on the corner, sipping my late and minding my own business, when this guy strolls up to me, kisses me full on the lips, TAKES A BITE OUT OF MY BAGEL, and sits down beside me like nothing is wrong. when i blow up at him and ask him what his problem is, he lookes baffled. He says we have been dating for over three months and even been sleeping together. i am SO not buying that mess. he says he can prove it and takes out his phone and starts scrolling through his photos. he doesn't get past the first photo, which is a picture of me ASLEEP, before i scream "STALKER" and blast him with my pepper spray. after he is carried away by the police, i find his phone and scroll through the pictures, which, are full of cutesy pictures of me and pepper spray man together doing all sorts of things: eating icecream, watching tv, with some of my friends. and i think for a second....wait.....am i.......dating....a time traveler? i ponder this thought for all of three seconds before i come back to reality. no way. this guy is a major creeper who has been photo shopping pics of him with myself. sick. just sick. (time travelers. can't catch a break)

met an elf on an internet dating site last week. after seven wonderful days of exchanging love letters, i think I've found the one!! we agree to meet. in my mind i am picturing Orlando Bloom from Lord of the Rings. what walks through the doors of the coffee shop. however, is more like Will Ferrell from Elf. um..maybe we aren't soul mates after all. you think i can sneak out the back?!

met and fell in love with an alien yesterday. oh man, those green eyes! our relationship had been off to a great start, but i am a little bit reluctant to become intimate with him. i mean.... when he starts talking dirty to me....he keeps mentioning the word "probe". D:

finally met the man of my dreams last night. And guess what? He told me he was a shape shifter. i got so excited, and lets admit,a little bit turned on. i asked him to turn into a wolf and he gave me a face. so i tried again: tiger? no. komodo? no. Dragon? no. griffin? no. alligator? no. i finally got angry after he shot down every exciting animal i could name. i asked him what he could turn into. the man then proceded to turn into a kitten. that is so not sexy. Review: Unraveling by Elizabeth Norris

Two days before the start of her junior year, seventeen-year-old Janelle Tenner is hit by a pickup truck and killed—as in blinding light, scenes of her life flashing before her, and then nothing. Except the next thing she knows, she's opening her eyes to find Ben Michaels, a loner from her high school whom Janelle has never talked to, leaning over her. And even though it isn't possible, she knows—with every fiber of her being—that Ben has somehow brought her back to life.

But her revival, and Ben's possible role in it, is only the first of the puzzles that Janelle must solve. While snooping in her FBI agent father's files for clues about her accident, she uncovers a clock that seems to be counting down to something—but to what? And when someone close to Janelle is killed, she can no longer deny what's right in front of her: Everything that's happened—the accident, the murder, the countdown clock, Ben's sudden appearance in her life—points to the end of life as she knows it. And as the clock ticks down, she realizes that if she wants to put a stop to the end of the world, she's going to need to uncover Ben's secrets—and keep from falling in love with him in the process.

From debut author Elizabeth Norris comes this shattering novel of one girl's fight to save herself, her world, and the boy she never saw coming.

MY THOUGHTS
The clock is ticking

And Janelle Tenner is going to figure out what its ticking down to, with the help of some friends. Along the way she will get answers from the past, loss and maybe even....love.

This was by far the best book of 2012, for me. I don't think I've ever read a book like this and if I have I don't remember it. This was a breath of fresh hair form all the vampires and werewolf books I've been reading. I like how she's trying to piece together the clues and I'm trying to figure it out with her. This book makes you think. I love books like that. There not one thing I didn't like about this book. It was fast paced and there was never a dull moment.

I really liked Janelle, she didn't take crap from anyone and did her own thing. She is real devoted to her family and friends. Her best friend Alex was a complete sweetheart. He wanted to plan his own life and not the life his mother had planned out for him. Last but certainly not least is Ben. He is the gut I would totally fall for. He was real mysterious and smart underneath all that. Nothing is hotter than a bad boy with a brain. ;)
I give this book a HUGE

Sweet Evil (The Sweet Trilogy #1) by Wendy Higgins

                                                                              Summary (Goodreads):

What if there were teens whose lives depended on being bad influences?
This is the reality for sons and daughters of fallen angels in Sweet Evil.

Tenderhearted Southern girl, Anna Whitt, was born with the sixth sense to see and feel emotions of other people. She’s aware of a struggle within herself, an inexplicable pull toward danger, but it isn’t until she turns sixteen and meets the alluring Kaidan Rowe that she discovers her terrifying heritage, and her will-power is put to the test. He’s the boy your daddy warned you about. If only someone had warned Anna.

Forced to face her destiny, will Anna embrace her halo or her horns?

 My Thoughts:

What would you do if your life depended on how bad you acted?

WOW is the one word to describe this book. I was just speechless at the end. I usually don't read books about angels, I just can't really get into them unless they are good, like Celestra series. I actually haven't finished those yet. Anyways, this was an angel book that I could get into. I loved every minute of it and it had me on the edge of my seat. I read the eBook copy of this but now I have to go to the store to but it. Let me tell you, I only buy books from the store if I really want the book b.c it blowed my mind.

On to the characters:

I really respected Anna, she didn't do anything that she didn't want to do. I'd admire that in a character. I really related to her in the story, we believe in a lot of the same things. Kaidan is a totally different story. I could totally see how she fell for him. I probably would have done the same thing. They call it the good girl syndrome in the book. I totally have that lol

I went to the Authors blog and she is already started on the third book. The second one does not have a title yet but it may be Sweet hope. She said it could change and she would put the final title on goodreads herself. I can not wait for the next one to come out!!!

Have you read this book yet, if so what did you think about it? If not do you want to read it?

Review: Darkness Comes This Way (The Guardians of the Night #1) by Pixie Lynn Whitfield

Summary:

Zarah Duncan is a Guardian. It’s an elite job that protects humans and the untainted vampires from the real monsters: those lost to the bloodlust. Rogues infest the city. Missing humans, unsolved cases…Zarah knows what the real cause is and she’s been trained since childhood to destroy them.

But she has a haunting past that catches up one day. Zarah was Rogue once, and until her, no one else has ever cured from the poisoned state of mind before. She’s been labeled a miracle, and the mystery only builds. She gets the awful feeling there’s more to it than just a lucky magical come-back. There are deep, dark secrets being kept. Maybe her boss Nathanial knows something? When she gets paired with a partner, Draven Kinsley, it only adds more difficulty. He hates her and swears that with a single look, she’ll poison him. To make matters worse, her Rogue brother has to show up, and he brings with him a shocking announcement. What Zarah learns from him rocks her entire world upside down. She not only begins to question who and what she is anymore, but it can possibly change the Vampire race forever.

The scary part: someone else knows too…and they’ll do anything to get her special blood, spelling disaster for the humans that Guardians have secretly been protecting for decades.

Vampires, fallen angels, war, betrayal, and romance fill this Paranormal/Urban Fantasy debut, the first book to a high-action trilogy

My Thoughts:

First off I want to thank Pixie Lynn Whitfield herself for allowing me to read the finished eBook copy. THANKS!!

When I first started reading I had all these distractions AKA my nephews. When they finally went to sleep it was at 10 and i went back to reading(YAY)Welll I got sucked into the story, I stayed up until the early morning hours until I finished it.

I absolutely loved all the detail in the story. I could imagine everything in my mind esp. the characters, they felt so real. Draven was just a bunch of hotness!!! Zarah, well she's just pure awesome. She totally won me over when she punched a certain someone in the face(epic)Plus, I like reading about redheads. Thomas is Zarah's brother, I really wanted o hate him but i just couldn't do it. He is very likable.

The twist on the vampires was very unique. Let me tell you, you want to read this so you can see what I'm talking about.

I think that some people will love this and other won't like it, it just depends on what you like. Me on the other hand loved this and I highly recommend it to all my friends!!!

I give it 5 hearts <3<3<3<3<3
