About Stung

There is no cure for being stung.

Fiona doesn’t remember going to sleep. But when she opens her eyes, she discovers her entire world has been altered—her house is abandoned and broken, and the entire neighborhood is barren and dead. Even stranger is the tattoo on her right hand—a black oval with five marks on either side—that she doesn’t remember getting but somehow knows she must cover at any cost. She’s right.

Those bearing the tattoo have turned into mindless, violent beasts that roam the streets and sewers, preying upon the unbranded while a select few live protected inside a fortress-like wall, their lives devoted to rebuilding society and killing all who bear the mark.

Now Fiona has awakened branded, alone—and on the wrong side of 2the wall.

Review
Fiona has just woke up and her last memory was turning thirteen, which can’t be possible b/c when she looks in the mirror she is older. She has no idea what is going on and it looks like no one has lived in her house in years. She then gets attack by a savage human, who happens to be her brother. The world is not how she remembers it. The streets are filthy and houses are demolished. All she does know is that she has to hide the mark on her hand b/c she knows nothing good can come from it. And she was right. People with this mark are infected and turn into killing machines. She doesn’t feel like a monster, but what if she does turn into one. She needs to find out what is going on and fast b/c there are some people who would kill to have her and some that would love to use her.

So, is she not infected or is she a ticking time bomb and just doesn’t know it. She won’t know until it happens.

OH MY GOSH!!! I’m going to start with the ending b/c it is fresh in my mind. That ending man, that ending leaves an opening for another book. There just has to be another book in the works, there just has to be. I need more and I need to know what happens!!! So now that I’m done with that let’s get to the book itself. It was amazing. Really everything was. We basically learn everything right along with Fiona b/c she doesn’t remember anything past the age of thirteen. I was just as nervous as she was. She has this strange tattoo on her hand and has no idea what it means. As the story progresses when learn that there are Fecs, that live in the sewers so they don’t get detected. Raiders, which are just savage people that hunt down woman and do vile things to them and kill people for fun. And Militia, and there duty is to capture the people that are infected. A level ten which is the highest will get them the highest reward. Life outside the wall is basically only the strongest will survive; while on the other side on the wall, I get the picture that they are living the life of Riley. I would not want to live in that world. I finished this book fairly quickly, but I wished I read it slower. LOL I didn’t want it to end.

Overall: A fast paced new Dystopian world that has gore, heartache, and lots of surprises. I think mostly everyone will love this book and if it doesn’t sound like you, well you should read it anyway. LOL You won’t be disappointed.

Fiona- She was feared for most of the book. She has ten marks and that makes her the deadliest person alive. She is supposed to have no human aspects and yet she does. You could tell that she hasn’t had a hard life, but that doesn’t stop her from surviving. She is a fighter, although she is too sweet at times. Drastic times call for drastic measures.

Bowen- What to say about him. He is paranoid and always checking his back. It doesn’t help that he thinks Fiona is dangerous. He is not the same boy that she remembers from her memories. He is always so serious now and bigger and handsome. Ok so I don’t remember her saying he is handsome, but in my mind he is. :D He grows on you as the story goes on and by the end he stole my heart. I really really hope there is going to be a second book b/c I want to know more about him.

About The Author

Bethany Wiggins has always been an avid reader, but not an avid writer.  She failed ninth grade English because she read novels instead of doing her homework. In high school, she sat alone at lunch and read massive hardback fantasy novels (Tad Williams and Robert Jordan anyone?). It wasn't until the end of her senior year that the other students realized she was reading fiction--not the Bible.

Once upon a time, Bethany's sister dared her to start writing an hour a day until she completed a novel. Bethany wrote a seven-hundred page fantasy novel that she wisely let no one read--but it taught her how to write.  She is the author of SHIFTING, STUNG (April 2013), and CURED (2014).
