Changing Tunes by Heather Gunter Blog Tour {Review + Giveaway}

Changing Tunes is a New Adult Romance by the fabulous Heather Gunter and today we get to share our thoughts with you.

Title:   Changing Tunes
Series:   The Changing Series
Author:  Heather Gunter
Genre:  New Adult
Release Date:  February 16, 2014
Cover Design:  Robin Harper of Wicked by Design

Ashley Davis is over her high school 'bitch' label and has decided to reinvent herself. College offers a new beginning, a chance to be different. After being assaulted, she's realized that she needs to change and college is just the place to do it. Nobody knows the Ashley she used to be and she'd like to keep it that way.
Afraid of falling into the same patterns she decides that having no friends, no life and focusing on school is the way to go, but she didn’t bank on someone like Mac as her roommate or the tall, dark and completely geek hot in his glasses, Zeke Whitman.

Ezekiel (Zeke) Whitman is driven and focused when it comes to school. When he's forced to partner with a tall, leggy blonde with a slight attitude, he's thrown for a loop. With so much at stake, Zeke can’t afford distractions and Ashley is certainly that. From their first encounter Zeke sees more than just another gorgeous girl.

As Ashley grapples with leaving the ‘old’ her behind, she realizes that sometimes changing tunes isn't as easy as it sounds. Sometimes you have to keep a little of the person that you were, in order to become the person that you want to be.

I read Changing Tunes in one day, it was just that good. It was actually Easter Sunday and I started reading it after church. I should have waited because I had a rough draft for an essay due the next day and I had nothing written. lol The book was hard to resist, so I gave in. I’m only giving it 4 stars because of one thing in the book.

1.     Ashley only ever talked about herself to her friend Mac. They said they are best friends but Ashley was the one getting everything off her chest. She never asks Mac about her past and we don’t really learn a lot about her. I mean they are best friends they should know these things…right?So that's the only problem I had with the book. :D Everything else I loved.

I didn’t like Ashley at first. I understand why she did the things she did, but I didn't agree with them. No, I’ve never slept with a guy, but that’s not my point. Ashley’s whole life had been decided for her without her consent. If she doesn’t do what her dad wants she will be cut off. So she sleeps with guys and takes control because she thinks that the only place where she can make the decisions. You can see that she changed from who she used to be ans is trying to become a better person. Mac and Zeke make her want to be a better person and they encourage her along the way. She had other friends as well and they all have their stamps on mine and Ashley’s hearts. This book is about coming to terms with who you are and what you want to be. It’s about taking control of your life and doing what’s best for you. It’s about a girl who’s been through a lot and who has maybe found someone to fill in the empty space in her heart.

4 STARS

Mac is bubbly and just a wonderful friend and person. Ashley was so lucky to be roomed with her. We hardly know anything about her past or what she wants, but we do know she would do anything for those she loves.

Ashley is a little full of herself, but you can’t change who you are overnight. She gradually moves forward in the novel and we genuinely come to care about her. She is strong and scared, but most people would be scared in her situation. She has my respect.

Zeke with his chocolate eyes and glasses with his baseball build. He is tall and yummy. I want to find my sexy smart guy somewhere lol Zeke has issues as well but not like Ashley. He has a lot of trust issues, but more along the lines of not wanting to get attached. It was fun to watch them resist each other. *snickers* Suckers.

Look for Tattered Pieces by Heather Gunter - Coming Soon

Riding high on the waves of success, Dove Sinclair, lead singer of Tattered Pieces, has it all - until one fateful night her party hard lifestyle almost costs her everything. Stupid and reckless doesn't even begin to describe her actions. Getting arrested definitely wasn't in the game plan, nor was an enforced stay in the Serenity Lakeview Clinic. If Dove wants to keep her band, her career and her life, then there is no alternative. The question is, will rehab force her to deal with the things that have triggered her reckless behavior or will she continue trying hard to forget and fade further into the dark.

Jasper Phillips is the kind of guy everyone loves. He comes from a good family, works hard and seems to have it all. Friendly, positive and popular are words people use to describe Jasper regularly. Sometimes what’s on the outside is only what we want people to see, while on the inside we’re battling demons that are too frightening to describe. When those demons manage to catch up to you, the whispers of their world becomes a very inviting place.

Dove doesn’t understand how Jasper fits in at Serenity Lakeview Clinic but something about him calls to her, awakening her desire to feel alive and normal again. As Jasper battles his inner darkness he is drawn to Dove, all the while fearing that if she gets close enough she won't like what she sees. As Jasper struggles to stay in the light, can he help Dove see what she has right in front of her?

 EXCERPT!!!

I felt her before I saw her. Warmth and comfort spread through me like hot soup on a cold day. I spun around and tried to focus through the hazy grey mist. But I could see her, hiding behind a large oak. There was no mistaking that flaming red hair. I had to resist the urge to run both my hands through the rich silk tresses, to feel its softness, to see if locks the colour of fire would burn me.
I didn’t want to startle her, so I motioned with my fingers that I was coming over. I calmly and deliberately walked over, terrified she might run off, even though my own heart felt like it was going to make a break for it. Her head darted back and forth like a frightened rabbit, uncertain of where to go. As I approached, I could see her eyes flicker with apprehension but she remained still.
When I got about ten feet away, I stopped. Her eyes connected with mine and I lurched backward. Her eyes were two azure blue pools so deep you could dive in and never reach the bottom. Those eyes appraised me inquisitively. I couldn’t move. I was stuck fast like the forest tree she hid behind. I had the unsettling feeling I was about to be dashed against rocks like sailors drawn to a siren’s song, and there was nothing I could do about it.

Landing by J. Bennett Blog Tour {Review}

BLURB:
Will Maya's Nightmare Come True in Landing?
Fighting evil isn’t only high-stress, no pay, and uncomfortable as hell most of the time, it also doesn’t turn out to be quite as black and white as Maya would have hoped. As a hybrid angel struggling to control her murderous appetite, Maya should know better than to expect simplicity.  With one half-brother still convinced that she’s an unstable threat and the other oblivious to the danger she presents, Maya struggles to find a balance between her diminished humanity and the darkness of the monster within.
The world gets murkier when Maya discovers a pair of angels who invite her into their lives. Now, she must choose between family or the promise of acceptance. The stakes grow higher when Maya’s greatest enemy returns. Vengeance may be within her grasp, but will Maya have to sacrifice one she loves to take it?
Landing is J Bennett's action-packed, darkly-humorous sequel to Falling, and the second book in the paranormal Girl With Broken Wings series.  And yes, there will be plenty more Chuck Norris jokes.

My Review

I love these books, but it lacks something that I love, which is a love interest. I know she still loves Ryan and it’s going to be while for her to get over him. I just want a little spark and we maybe get that in this one. She thinks about this one guy, but its fleeting. Anyways enough talk about love. Maya and her brothers are still on the hunt for angels and things are still stressed between them. Tarren still wants to kill her and Gabe is well Gabe, trusting. So many things so down in this book I can’t keep them straight. We learn more about the boy’s childhood and Tammy. We learn more about angels and Maya finally confesses, to what you have to read the books. There was a lot of laughing and crying during this book, but mostly laughing. Gabe and Maya sure know how to make you laugh. The crying parts though; UGH I thought it was….I can’t speak of it. Just know that I cried and the boys cried and just leave it at that.

The books ended leaves much to the imagination. I can’t wait to see what happens. I know things are never going to be the same with the three of them though. At the end of the book everyone is changed. It leaves a lot of questions as well. One being that is someone still alive *cue intense music* I’m really curious. I think we learn more about Tarren in this book than anything. I loved getting to know him and I can’t help but to like him and hate him. Maya is still struggling with her hunger and wants more than anything to be accepted by Tarren and not screw up a hunt. Gabe is just full of life; nothing can really get him down, well not for long. He is what holds them all together, but what happens if he is not there anymore?

Overall: Landing was full of excitement, surprises, sadness, and laughter. What a combination. If you are a fan of Chuck Norris jokes, hunters, and angels this book is for you.

Biggest Flirts by Jennifer Echols Blog Tour {Review + Giveaway}

http://www.itchingforbooks.com/2014/02/blog-tourbiggest-flirts-by-jennifer.html

Series: The Superlatives #1
Release date: May 20th 2014
Publisher: Simon Pulse
Pre-order: AMAZON

BOOK DESCRIPTION:
Tia and Will’s lives get flipped upside down when they’re voted Yearbook’s Biggest Flirts in this sassy novel from the author of Endless Summer and The One That I Want.

Tia just wants to have fun. She’s worked hard to earn her reputation as the life of the party, and she’s ready for a carefree senior year of hanging out with friends and hooking up with cute boys. And her first order of business? New guy Will. She can’t get enough of his Midwestern accent and laid-back swagger.

As the sparks start to fly, Will wants to get serious. Tia’s seen how caring too much has left her sisters heartbroken, and she isn’t interested in commitment. But pushing Will away drives him into the arms of another girl. Tia tells herself it’s no big deal…until the yearbook elections are announced. Getting voted Biggest Flirts with Will is, well, awkward. They may just be friends, but their chemistry is beginning to jeopardize Will’s new relationship—and causing Tia to reconsider her true feelings. What started as a lighthearted fling is about to get very complicated…

MY REVIEW

Tia is the life of the party and likes the way her life is, no commitments and no responsibilities. That is until Will Mathews moves to town. Now she is looking at her life differently and is actually showing her feelings, but she ends up doing something she regrets and doesn’t think Will will take her back. She thought she was unattached, but watching Will with another girl brings out the green monster. Oh and there is this one little thing that her and Will are the class Flirts, talk about drama.

Tia is putting her life back together, but will Will take her back?

Biggest Flirts was a highly enjoyable book. I felt like there are other books out there like it but it did have some unique qualities. Tia is half Puerto Rican and a band major that is super smart, but doesn’t want any one to know it. I thought her being in the band was awesome. You usually associate people that are in the band to be rule followers, but Tia is the life of every party. I’m usually not interested in band books but this one I really liked. Jennifer Echols never disappoints me. There are lots of parties, teen angst, and drama all in one novel. It made me think about what I’m doing with my life and what I want to do. I love when books make you think, when you can actually relate to the things that are going on in the book. It makes it more enjoyable and believable. It was a fast read for me because it had me ensnarled from the beginning. I want to read more about Tia and her journey of finally putting some effort in what she is doing. I also want to see where her relationship with Will goes. As for secondary characters I liked Kaye, Sawyer, and Harper. Everyone was pretty cool and I really liked them.

Biggest Flirts was a hoot and frustrating at the same time and I loved every minute of it.

Tia is highly unusual. She is ridiculously smart but doesn’t apply herself. She doesn’t want people to know that she is smart because if they found out they will expect greater things from her. She thinks that if she gets in a position where she has to give orders, she will screw it up. So she does everything in her power to stat off the grid, but when Will enters her life and she decides to makes changes. I want to see those changes in the next but. I know she is going to be the main character, but I like to see them in the book.

Will is from Minnesota and moves to Florida his senior year. You would expect it to not be easy and it isn’t. He finds out that the person he thought he was is not who he is anymore. He wants to be his own person for a change and do things his way. He is a genuinely a good guy and it doesn’t hut that he is hot and played hockey at his last school. Did I mention his body is ripped and he has an earring? ;) And nothing is hotter than a guy that can play the drums.

Tia has just met her match in this highly addicting novel by Jennifer Echols.
